The test is to demonstrate how much you have learned from white to brown belt first kyu.  All the punches, strikes, blocks, kicks, combinations, katas, a minimum of 60 push-ups, 60 sit-ups, 100 jumping-jacks and 15 kumite.  He did it all and earned his rank.  In the process, he scored two TKO (Technical Knock Out),

The Karate Institute is proud to present the first black belt in Kyokushin Karate of New Jersey. He has started training in March of 2001 and earned his black belt after four years of hard training in April 2005. The entire school, the distinguished guesses and all the parents are very proud of your accomplishment.  They have all witnessed your efforts, sweats and tears. Congratulations!

At the end of the ceremony, we had his mom and dad presented the certificate to him. For love, appreciation of the parents as well as for respect and humility of the child always.
